..because i hear deaths happen in threes.
really, john edwards!?! dropping out of the race so soon? i mean, i guess i can understand that you don't have any more of those campaign dollars that hillary, barack, and same-first-name mcpain seem to be using as toilet paper these days to help you fight your uphill battle, but couldn't you at least keep your balls intact and wait til super tuesday like everyone else? i mean, you were coming in a steady 3rd place with a shocking consistency considering the fact that you're a democrat. and you even beat hillary that one time.. you know, in that state that doesn't.. really.. matter.. oh. well, maybe now that you mention it, i DO understand. as a matter of fact, if john edwards can't cross the finish line, i predict quite a few people will drop out of the race come february 5th. oh yes.
well, here's to our fallen heroes, the candidates who just couldn't take the heat and thus decided to get out of the kitchen:
-fred thompson [who, i'm sorry, doesn't even deserve his own separate post],
-rudy giuliani [who i'll touch on in another post because.. well, because i hate the man and need more time to think of things to talk about other than how hypocritical and corrupt of a one-trick pony he is],
-and now john edwards.
you were quite charming on the tyra banks show the other day, but really that in itself was a sign that you weren't too far off from throwing in the ol' candidate's towel.
sadly, i really liked ya john. you had the youth, good looks, charisma, great ideological platform, and panache of a certain kennedy with the same first name. you really seemed like you might be a real concern for the clintons and obamas of the political world.. until you went all hardcore leftist psycho on us, that is. why run such a crazy ideologically jarring campaign at a time when the republicans are in such low regard that all you needed was to present your great ideas and then get the hell out of dodge and let the american public suck on it for a while, rather than scaring everybody all to hell?
you know, i truly believe that had you been given the chance to run as the young, energetic non-incumbent against baby bush instead of john "the undead" kerry's wrinkly old dried up weak-ass middle-of-the-road candidacy, maybe things would be different.
i'm almost sad to see you go. i say almost, not out of spite cos i genuinely like you, but because even though you were nowhere near posing a threat, you did pull in some noticeable numbers that could be better utilized by team obama. and i can't have you running around with your ties to the kennedys trying to undermine team obama. funny thing though, teddybear kennedy [more like grizzlybear, am i right? ahaha.] is backing "the rock barack" and didn't even wait 'til super tuesday [when it would -hopefully- be more clear who the democratic candidate is going to be] to announce it to the world. mmmph. kinda makes a statement, dun'nit?
coverage of ted kennedy's endorsement of barack obama:
well mr. same-first-name-as-my-dad edwards, it was fun. we had some laughs. now you can go back to your young children. you know, the ones your wife gave birth to somewhere around the age of 50.. [eewww..]
yeah, have fun with that.
let's see how things go now that the field has been narrowed by giuliani and edwards withdrawing from the race, as this article in the new york times reported..
and in the meantime, let's go BARACK! oh-bama in oh-eight.. oh yeah.
